Electro GENERAL ELECTRIC 1945

WHO ARE WE?

Antique Electro

Antique Electro is a unique company in Canada that has been operating since 2002 in the restoration and sale of stoves and refrigerators manufactured between 1920 and 1960. Whether you own a piece from your family heritage or choose an appliance from our extensive inventory, our restoration work will make this gem the centrepiece of your kitchen! Made by American, Canadian, and often even Quebec manufacturers, these well-designed appliances with bold designs and unexpected amenities will surprise you! Their impeccable restoration not only ensures that you will own a unique object, but it is also an eco-friendly, economical, and sustainable gesture. In fact, the appliances restored by our team have a lifespan much longer than that of a new appliance and their energy consumption is comparable to that of current appliances. Each project can be adapted to your tastes and needs. We carry out a methodical and meticulous work respecting the original components or adapting new parts without changing the style of the appliance. We do not neglect any aesthetic or functional detail. Passion, attention to detail, love of well-designed things, the desire to provide a unique experience and a spark to each of our customers are part of our daily lives.

François Dubuc : Owner & Craftsman

François has been a household appliance technician since the early 1990s. In the spring of 2001, he found a ‘"Frigidaire" refrigerator. At that time, he had no idea of the exact age or mechanical condition, but he liked the model. The restoration of this first treasure awakened a new passion for François. A few months later, on the Internet, searching for information on this "Frigidaire", he discovered Antique Appliances. This American company from Georgia has specialized for several years in the restoration and sale of these treasures from the past.

He had hours of pleasure discovering and learning what had been made in the past in household appliances. Thanks to their impressive inventory, he was able to estimate the year of manufacture of his refrigerator to 1934. Just as he had done with his own, these craftsmen bring these items back to life, which most would have ended up in the dump. Why not??? It was from the discovery of Antique Appliances that François began to collect old fridges and stoves. Antique Electro was born little by little.

The team of subcontractors

A single restoration can require the skills and knowledge of several different trades. Antique Electro works with several small businesses and freelancers in its region. Whether it is to paint refrigerators, sandblast them completely or partially, chrome or even "gold" plating, or even restore some parts to the original condition, each of these specialists brings their know-how and expertise to the table. All of these trades are necessary to achieve a high-quality restoration.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide high-quality, restored antique appliances that are built to last and can be passed down as heirlooms. We prioritize supporting small businesses and local economies, and value traditional craftsmanship and attention to detail. We strive to recycle and reuse materials as much as possible and offer a unique and memorable experience to our customers. We differentiate ourselves from mass-produced, homogenized products by going against the mainstream and swimming against the current in our approach to business.
